San Diego is a hidden gem family vacation destination. You can stay in the city, with great coffee shops and amazing food, but still be near the seaside AND two famous kiddo attractions: Legoland with Sea Life Aquarium and the San Diego Zoo located in Balboa park, where you can easily spend whole day. The park is full of different gardens, museums, playgrounds and walk paths and is stated as one of the oldest urban parks in the US.
The climate is mild year-round, making it always vacation season. The golden sandy beaches here are known for being especially family-friendly, with many boasting playgrounds. Try Coronado beach, La Jolla Shores, Del Mar City beach or Cardiff Reef Beach.
Travel out of the city borders to Carlsbad, to visit Leo Carillos buggy friendly ranch. On the way there, just 30 minutes north of the city centre is the San Diego Botanic Garden, another place to admire local and exotic flowers and plants.
The San Diego International Airport is located approximately 10 minutes drive west of the city centre and is easy to get back and to. We actually flew through LAX and then took the train down to San Diego to Santa Fe Depot.
With all the luxuries of a modern city, San Diego makes for an easy baby-friendly destination.
