Warsaw, the Polish capital, offers much beauty. It is a city which rose from the ruins like a formidable Phoenix after it was destroyed during the war. The city has two parts, the Old Town and the modern district of Praga filled with hotels, a zoo and a Russian marketplace which is separated by the river Vistula. The Old Town of Warsaw, Stare Miasto, also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was rebuilt after the war and many of the old monuments can still be found in this part of the city.
When visiting Warsaw you shouldn’t miss the Castle Square with its triangular shape, the Royal Castle, the remnants of the defensive fortification – the Barbacan Warsaw or the Old Town Square (Rynek Starego Miasta) – Warsaw’s most beautiful square with its mermaid statue, Syrena. When travelling with children the Funpark Digiloo and the Aquapark Wesolandia are a must.
You can move around Warsaw by bus or subway.
