Hamburg, the second largest city in Germany and one of the most important harbours in Europe is where the Elbe river empty itself into the Northern Sea. Primarily Hamburg is an industrial city but families with children of all age will nonetheless enjoy themselves there.

Even though Hamburg is a port city with many canals, there are quite a few places where you can enjoy walks with a stroller; the Alster park right at the Alster lake, the promenade at the Elbe river with its sandy beach, the New Town route, the Old Town route and the Plants and Flowers route.
Taking a boat cruise will display unusual views and you will be able to admire many of the 2428 bridges in the city or you can simply relax in the city park. The Miniatur Wonderland, where kids of all age can interact with the exhibited miniatures, making it enjoyable for everyone, is another option to visit.

You can get around Hamburg conveniently using public transport and the Hamburg card. It is easy to get to the city from the international airport, situated 8,5 km north of the city centre.
