Lyon is one of the largest cities in France and it is located at the confluence of the rivers Rhône and Saône in the region of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, approximately 470 km away from Paris. People living in this city are called Lyonnais. The population of Lyon is approximately 500 000 and it has the second largest urban area in France.

This city has beautiful architecture with many of beautiful buildings and it is registered as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. If we look back in the history of Lyon we will see the invention of cinematography by Auguste and Louis Lumière and the production of silk. It is also major centre for banking and the chemical- / pharmaceutical industry.

In Lyon you can find both antique sights and modern buildings. A good way to see the city with your children, without having to use your legs, are the Hop-on-Hop-off busses, which go through all of the city. And this is of course faster than walking, too :D

I recommend going to Lyon with your kids if you want to see something new and teach your kids about ancient mysteries, but also if you want to enjoy a careless day off relaxing. It is the perfect city to combine these two things.
