One of the biggest cities of the Czech Republic, located in West Bohemia, close to German borders, Pilsen (Plzeň) is mostly known as industrial city with the largest brewery in the country, Plzensky prazdroj, which is also one of the most visited tourist attractions (though appreciated by parents, not babies).

One of the biggest cities of the Czech Republic, located in West Bohemia, close to German borders, Pilsen (Plzeň) is mostly known as industrial city with the largest brewery in the country, Plzensky prazdroj, which is also one of the most visited tourist attractions (though appreciated by parents, not babies).

Moving around Pilsen with buggy is fairly easy, since all sights are in walking distance. Visit gothic St. Bartholomew's Cathedral with the highest church tower in the Czech Republic, renaissance Town Hall or Moorish revival Great Synagogue, the second largest synagogue in Europe and number three in the world.

If you want to experience some adventure, visit the historic underground tunnel network which is with its 20km amongst the longest in central Europe. A part of this network is open to the public for tours though we recommend to use baby carrier instead a buggy.

During Summer days visit the Zoo and Botanical Gardens or the next door and very popular Dino park (opened only Apr-Oct). Have proper Czech dish or Pilsner beer in one of the restaurants or cafés with kids playground (Restaurace na Spilce, Hotel Gondola, Café restaurant Kacaba, Picnic café). Indoor Techmania and the 3D Planetarium are dedicated mostly for older children but your youngest one will enjoy some of the attractions too.

Trams, trolleybuses and buses are operated in the city, most of them barrier-free but there are still few where you need to carry the buggy to get in. Traffic in Pilsen is not heavy and it’s convenient to drive around, just remember that there are blue zones and therefore you can park your car only in dedicated areas.
