Who could imagine Rome without its Colosseum. So it’s logical, that everyone wants to see it. For security reasons, the policy is to let in only up to 3000 tourists at once and you have to go through the x-ray scan. We highly recommend to plan your visit for morning, book the ticket in advance (you’ll avoid the local ticket imposters) and enjoy the ride to the first floor in modern elevator (one of the few things Romans didn’t invent :). Have your refreshment ready with you, all the nearby food stands are way too expensive. Public restrooms are hard to find and there are no baby changing rooms in the object.
Getting to Colosseum is fairly easy either by foot or by metro (line B, Colosseo station, exit is right next to the entrance) or by local bus (lines 75, 81, 175, 204 and 673) or tram (line 3).
If you’re accompanied with older kid, try the “Gladiator school”, dedicated unfortunately only for kids, not adults. Everyone under 18 has free entry, EU citizens between 18-25 are for reduced fare 7.5EUR, full price is 12EUR. The tickets are usually combining three sights, Colosseum, Forum Romanum and the Palatine Hill. Find more information here: https://www.coopculture.it/en/colosseo-e-shop.cfm#
