When we were visiting Eiffel tower in November 2016, there were security controls before the ticketing office. If you are with buggy, you can use side entrance for wheelchairs and buggies. If you plan to go to the first or second floor, you have two options - use one of the lifts (North, East and West leg. Look for the the signs, as only one of the lifts is dedicated for buggies) or bring a carrier. Be aware, that there are warnings signs not to leave buggies (or any objects) unattended, so if you decide to climb up with the carrier, you cannot simply leave your buggy anywhere near the tower. 1st and 2nd floors of the tower are completely barrier free and to get to the third floor, you have to change the lift on the 2nd. We climbed the steps from the South leg, as there is no lift operated, therefore the queue was really short. The climb to the 1st and 2nd floors are not difficult and you can actually admire views from these parts of the tower too. Price vary depending on the floor you want to visit. Babies under 4 years are for free, kids age 4-11 are from 2.5EUR (stairs to 2nd) to 6.3EUR (lift to the top).
