The “Kaiservilla” - an emperor’s villa was a wedding gift to the famous Franz-Joseph and his wife Elisabeth, Sisi. Sitting slightly above Bad Ischl, the mansion is surrounded by 20hectar park that is ideal for visit with children.
The estate is still owned by the Habsburg-Lotrin family but part of the villa was made available to public by guided tour. Thr tour itself is interesting, you’ll see rooms that were occupied by Franz-Joseph and Sisi and the guide will explain in an entertaining way all about their life, but small children will get probably bored soon and on top of that, there’re stairs you’ll need to climb to visit the first floor. The tour is in German only but they will provide you with written description in many different languages.
There are two swings for older children in the park. When you steep climb up to the Photo museum, that was originally built for Sisi, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking view over the estate and Bad Ischl town. Entry fee is 5Eur for adult if you want to visit just the park and 15 eur with guided tour included. It is not stated since when kids have to pay but they left small kids under three years in for free.
